Our Story

Five friends, other jobs, one obsession with coffee. That was it.

We spotted an empty shop front on the corner of Hope Street and Hardman Street in Liverpool, an Art Deco building that had sat vacant for ten years, and couldn't let it go. In 2014 we bought a roaster and taught ourselves how to use it in a meeting room in Hardman Yard. No industry background, no rulebook, just a lot of bad early batches and a determination to get it right.

In January 2015 we opened Liverpool's first combined micro-roastery and coffee shop on that same corner. The name comes from the craft: 92 degrees is the optimum temperature for extracting espresso, and it felt like a good reminder of what we were here to do. Details matter. They always have.

None of us took a salary in those early years, we kept our day jobs and put everything back into the business, building it slowly until the foundations were solid enough to grow from. When the pandemic hit we moved online and our community showed up for us, which told us everything we needed to know about why we do this.

Now in 2026 we have over 20 locations across the Northwest, Scotland, a roastery on Liverpool's waterfront, a team of over 100 people, and franchisees opening in more areas across the UK and beyond. The coffee is still small-batch, still hand-roasted, still sourced with care, and our coffee shops are still built around the people and communities they sit in.

We're independent, Liverpool born, and our mission hasn't changed since day one. Damn Fine Coffee for everyone.
